Hypothesis
A wind turbine on a highway
can generate electricity using both
the wind created by passing
vehicles and the natural wind.
Research
We have seen energy produced by windmills, which depend on the wind blowing. Now, we can get energy from wind turbines placed on the side of a roadway or in the center of a divided highway. This system of electrical power generation utilizes wind draft force from vehicles traveling on roadways. Moving at high speed, vehicles push away air as they travel, producing a lot of energy. By placing wind turbines on the side of a road or in the center of a road, energy can be captured.
Variables
the frequency output from the generator varies with the wind speed as the rotor speeds up or slows down in response to wind gusts
Procedure
- Got the idea and made a blueprint.
- Gathered all the materials and started building our project .
- Broke 1 fidget spinners so we can use the bearings.
- Got a 2 by 2 piece of wood and drilled 2 holes in the wood then cut out thin sheet metal and sand it.
- Bended the sheet of metal with our hands shaping it with a bottle.
- We put a wooden rod in the middle .
- Stuck a generator to the wood with bearings on it.
- Built a pulley system so it can move the generator and generate electricity.
- Sticked the wires to the generator and light bulb so we can transport
the electricity to light up the lightbulb.
- Painted the road for the model.
Observations
we made a working wind turbine that works and spins and it generates electricity
Analysis
the process of assessing the potential of wind energy at a specific location.
Conclusion
Our hypothesis was correct: we successfully created a working wind turbine! However, we made a few adjustments along the way. For instance, we used a hairdryer to generate wind, as we didn’t have access to cars that could provide enough airflow to spin the turbine.
In the end, our wind turbine generated electricity, proving that this technology works. By using wind turbines on highways, we can recycle polluted air and convert it into clean energy, which is beneficial for the environment.
Moreover, construction teams can build multiple turbines along highways, contributing to a healthier ecosystem. This setup could also generate extra electricity, which can be sold to the grid, providing a potential profit.
Overall, our experiment shows that wind energy is an effective and eco-friendly solution!
Application
putting beside highway's to generate electricity using electrcity from the moving cars.
Sources Of Error
not enough wind or blade might rip off if it is not glued properly
