Hypothesis

Question: Are solar panels worth the off?

Hypothesis: I think solar panels are worth the trade off as they produce clean electricity without any carbon emissions, saving our planet Earth from the effects of extra greenhouse gases apart from saving huge electricity bills. In addition, since major parts of old solar panels can NOW be recycled it saves the environment from further dump. With the recycling of solar panels, they now have a life cycle reusing many components from the discarded solar panels and preserving nature!







 

Research

solar panels are worth the trade off as they can help you become more energy efficient, reduces your electric bill, and make a positive impact on the environment. The cost of solar panels has plunged in the past decade, so it seems like rooftop solar could be a good opportunity for homeowners to save on electricity bills and cut carbon emmisions.

 

 

Variables

The variables are as follows

1. INDEPENDENT VARIABLE:- I had a solar kit that had a solar car and a micro battery that charges with direct sunlight and a big bus that had a big solar battery. I used the big battery of the bus to make it a charging station for solar cars just like charging staions for Tesla cars.

2. DEPENDENT VARIABLE :-  the solar panel of the solar car when put under direct sunlight it got charged and made the car run. When not under direct sunlight it did not work. When we put the solar panel of the solar car again in direct sunlight I was able to charge the micro battery with the help of this battery the car could run without direct sunlight proving that micro battery had stored the solar energy in itself.

3. CONTROLLED VARIABLES :- the one we kept the same is the solar car itself including the solar panel and the micro battery.

Procedure

Step by step procedure of my project ( Life Cycle Of Solar Panels ) covers the following points 

1. Manufacturing of solar panels:-

  Solar panel consists of 7 layers like  the aluminium frame, tempered glass, encapsulant, solar cell, encapsulant, back sheet and  lastly rhe junction box

2. Use of solar panel:- 

Uses of solar panel are housing electricity, street lights, cars, planes and more 

3. Details of solar panel recycling:- 

to recycle solar panels you need to burn solar panels on 400 degrees to melt the plastic. The next step is to  mechanically sort parts. Lastly, using chemicals to get the most valuable component out which is silver

Observations

What I observed in my experiment (Solar Car) It is good for the environment as it doesn't produce extra greenhouse gases. Using direct sunlight, the solar panel on my car under direct sun light made it run when I removed this car from direct sunlight it did not work. To make the car work, I used the micro battery by charging it  with the help of Solar panel kept in direct sunlight. After the battery was charged I inserted this micro battery in the car which was not under direct sunlight and the car started running.

Hence, Solar cars can be a game changer to preserve our environment.

Analysis

What I analyzed in my project that my solar car is eco friendly , does not use fuel, only running on sunlight that will never run out. On the days when it's cloudy, rainy and at night we have a micro battery that can be charged under direct Sunlight. That battery stores the sunlight and helps the car to run even without the sun.

Conclusion

Yes the solar panels are very much the trade off as they now can be recycled reusing many components and not harming the environment even after 25-30 years of life span. The solar panels have many benefits as mentioned:-

  Savings on electricity bills,

free energy,

environmental protection,

independence from the power grid and more

Application

As related to my experiment, the solar car can be applied in real life situation to avoid deterioration of our planet from production of extra greenhouse gases hence saving Earth from getting warmer.

Solar panels are already being applied in numerous places like street lights, buildings, irrigation and more. They are also now being expiremented on planes and cars.

Sources Of Error

Expirementing the solar car did not work in cloudy days and at night.
