Lets figure out what kills bactira best.

in this project we will be figuring out what kills bacteria best. we will compairing colloidal silver, prescription drugs, cleaning suppy, and essential oils.

Hypothesis

Our hypothesis was that colloidal silver would surpass the rest of our options since it has been used medically up until the 1940s.

Research

Our research significantly consisted of the properties of our bacteria killers. Although the physical expirement is main focus, we also researched why and how they react that way with the bacteria.

Variables

Independant Variables

- Source of bacteria

- Disinfecting process

Dependant Variables

- Bacterial growth

- Affectiveness of bacterial distruction

Controlled Variables

- petri dishes

- bacteria disinfectors

Procedure

I sterrilized the petre dishes with some hot distilled water and sloshed it around, and then used the microwave to further heat it. i then prepared the agar and poured it in. i waited an hour and a half to have it solidify, then i swabbed the inside of my trash bin. i then sprayed the dishes with the matirials. (i did this process before but it failed so i did it again.)

Observations

the first thing we did hardly grew so we redid it with another set. day 1) nothing. day2)coloidil silver started to grow. 3)everything is started exept for the Microban. 4) microban grew a little bit.

Analysis

The first time we did this we analysed that the bacteria cultures mightve been different from our second attempt, which is probably because of the difference in source of bacteria. The bacteria cultures growth was also vastly different between the two, the first grew little to no bacteria and the second absolutely exploded. We think this happened because of the, previously mentioned, differences in sorce of bacteria and the mishap of melting the petri dishes while trying to disinfect our first attempt.

Conclusion

Suprisingly, it was the cleaning supply that killed off most germs. Though we believe it was mostly because of outside sources we did not detect, since we only did a single test (because we ran out of petri dishes and time).

Application

We believe that the information and research that we have gathered from our project has quite a significant impact. There is an ongoing debate about which of these four kill bacteria the best: cleaning supplies (microbsn), essential oils, prescription drugs (antibiotic ointment), and coloidal silver. Although a bit overachieving, we wished to aid and even put an end to this debate by testing it ourselves. Knowing which of the mentonied disinfectors not only helps with the scientific arguement, ut also in general it is wise to know how to get rid of harmful bacterias in your house.

Sources Of Error

the first time we did this; to disinfect the petri dishes we decided to put them in the microwave because niether of us had any bleach.
