#### How long it takes for different types of liquid to freeze?

There are 5 different types of liquids which are soda, lemonade, milk, orange juice, and water. I left them out in my garage for 2 weeks then moved them to my freezer. I will record how long it takes them to freeze by hours.

### Hypothesis

What I think is going to happen is that the drink with more sugar in it will be the last to freeze. I think that water will be the first to freeze. I think the soda pop will be the second last to freeze and the milk will be the second first. I hypotheses that the mango juice will be the third to freeze. I’m thinking that the water will freeze within one day or 12 hours. I think that the milk will freeze within 2 or 1 day. I hypothesize that the mango juice will freeze in 3 or 2 days. I think that the soda pop will freeze within 4 or 3 days. I think the Lemonade(the sweetest drink) will freeze in a week or 5 days.

### Research

X many people order delivery with drinks and in the winter y many peoples drinks freezes. With this experiment, those people won’t have frozen drinks and this will also help me.

Delivery started in 1768. The first delivery was at a store in Korea. This order was for naengmyeon( cold noodles).

Sugar particles are able to dissolve only in a liquid and won't dissolve when in a solid-state. Because of this adding sugar to water lowers the time at which it freezes. If the liquid is hot it will also freeze slower.

When a liquid is cooled down most of the energy in the molecules decreases. At some point, the heat will be removed the attractive forces between molecules draw and the molecules close together, then the liquid will freeze to a solid. When the temperature is at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, 0 degrees Celsius, 273.15 Kelvin water will freeze. Scientists have also found that liquid water as cold as -40 degrees F can also freeze. Salt can also affect the freezing point of the liquid. That's why road salt melts the ice.  This reaction is called a freezing point depression. Salt only works if there is water available. The more particles formed when salt dissolves the more it lowers the freezing point. Salt prevents water from freezing faster and like the salt you put on the road, it also melts it and prevents it from refreezing.

### Variables

Independent variable: The type of liquid

Dependent variable: What hour the liquid froze

Controlled variable: The temperature, The bottle, The position, and the amount of liquid in each bottle, the same place.

### Procedure

For my experiment, I’m going to get my 5 drinks. My 5 drinks are Water, Orange juice, Soda pop, Milk, and Homemade lemonade. I will be putting the liquids outside which is about -1 degrees celsius. I will put them out for 2 weeks and I will record the time that they freeze by checking up on them every hour. If it doesn’t freeze in the day I will sleep and check up on it after 12 hours. If it has frozen then I wouldn’t really know when at what hour it froze but I know about the time. I put it in the freezer for one week. My homemade lemonade will have half a bottle of water, 50 grams of honey, and 100 grams of lemon juice. The soda pop has 46 grams of sugar, 20 mg of Sodium, and 50 mg of Potassium.  The orange juice has 0 g of Cholesterol, mg of Sodium, 470 mg of Potassium, 27 g of carbohydrates, 23 g of sugar, 0% of Vitamin A, 120% of Vitamin C, and 2% of calcium. The water has 0 g of carbohydrates, 0 g of protein, and 40 mg of Calcium.

### Observations

I noticed that after each day one would freeze, only one would freeze a day. I also noticed that sometimes while the drinks would freeze some would turn into slush. They would look as if they were frozen but then if you moved it a slight bit it would unfreeze and have to form again. I also noticed that when I left the drinks in the freezer they would freeze a lot faster.

### Analysis

The reason I think that the water took 5 days to freeze Because it was too warm in the garage and we are always using it so we let some warm air in and ruined the process. The orange juice i think froze on the 7th day because again the garage was warmer than 0 degrees celsius and the orange juice even though it was more on the non artifistion side it still composed sugar in it. I think that the milk was the third one to freeze because miok has a lot of other things into it and because of that then the milk didn’t freeze as fast as the water or orange juice. I think that the pop was the third to freeze because it contained s lot if sugar but not as much sugar then the homemade lemonade. The lemonade froze last because it had the most sugar.

### Conclusion

From this experiment i can tell that the more sugar there is in the liquid the lower the freezing point is. Salt, fat and other things also affect the freezing point and make them lower. In the end we also figured out that it takes about 9 days for liquids to melt. We now also know what freezes fastest and why they do. Now the delivery people now know what to carry in a car or in a bicycle

### Application

After I've done this I know what drinks I can store now and like inpatient people like me those people don't need to wait for it to melt.

### Sources Of Error

The change in the temperature and the movement of the bottles when you want to check on them can all affect the results.
