Hypothesis

The participants with more experience in sports will have quicker hand speeds and reaction times compared to those with less experience in a sport. We came up with this hypothesis because we had a feeling it would be good because we thought the athletes would win because they have more reaction time.

Research

Set Up:

  • 3 participants per skill level ( athlete vs. non-athlete )
  • One participants completes at a time.
  • Stand used to control distance from wands for fair results.

Control:

  • Each participant will complete the challenge at the same height and distance with the drop challenge game set at the same speed ( level 2 ). Without warning, the challenge game will drop one of the six wands randomly. Measurement:
  • Record how many wands the athletes vs. non-athletes capture. Each wand is marked to score points. Number the wand is grabbed at is subtracted from 36 to give a total score. Each participant must catch the wands with only one hand. Best score will be 30.

Variables

Controlled: All used the same game and same place so it was fair to others. Manipulated: The people were all different no one had the same score. Responding: Athletes had faster reaction time because they have faster reaction time.

Procedure

  1. Gather materials to complete the challenge.
  2. Select participants: group of athletes and non- athletes to gather data.
  3. The participant will attempt to catch the wands as quickly as possible with one hand. The researcher documents the number each wand is caught at.
  4. Measure collect and analyze the data and reaction time of the challenge. Each participant will compete at same height.

Observations

athlete 1. caught 5/6 and his final score was 22 which is super good. athlete 2. caught 6/6 and a score of 26 which is super good. athlete 3. caught 5/6 with a score of 18 which is ok.

non- athlete 1. caught 3/6 with a score of 12 which is not really good. non- athlete 2. caught 2/6 with a score of 9 which is not good at all. non- athlete 3. caught 4/6 with a score of 17 which is really close to tying athlete 3.

Analysis

athletes did what we expected they were faster reaction time then non athletes except athlete 3. person was athlete 1. peson was athlete 2. person was athlete 3. person was non athlete 1. person was non athlete 2. person was non athlete 3.

Conclusion

The data collected supports our hypothesis. each participant athlete vs non athlete competed in the same speed challenge. the participants with more experience in a sport were able to successfully complete the challenge. athletes had less wands falling to the floor on each speed level and abal to catch them with accuracy.

Application

if you are thinking of joining a sport I think you should I will tell you why the athletes caught most of the wands because sports improve the brain. and you will have a lot of fun in a sport.

Sources Of Error

I would add more participants so it would be a bigger challenge for the athletes. I would also add more information so it would be more interesting for the judges.
