Hypothesis
We think that the strawberries will mold faster in the red container because the red wavelength will not reach the fruit. This is because the red wavelength will hit the container and reflect back before it reaches the fruit. We thought this because we saw an ad that said green bags would help lettuce stay fresher so we tested that theory on a strawberry.
Research
- Heat mold-bl We left the strawberries in the sunlight because heat helps with molding.
- Washing strawberries- People normally wash strawberries.
- Why is this useful?- Because it's useful to know how to keep your strawberries the freshest.
- Quantitative Data
- Colour wavelength- See image on tryfold.
- Green bag helps Lettuce (Ad)- Real life product.
Variables
Strawberries x8 (Washed. No stem.)
Green container x2
Blue container x2
Clear container x2
Red container x2
saran wrap (4 layers per container.)
Procedure
- Wash the strawberries
- Cut the stem off.
- Place a strawberry in each container.
- Place a square piece of saran wrap.
- Close each lid tightly.
- Place each container in front of the window.
- Take pictures every day in the morning and evening.
- Describe the visual changes throughout the experiment.
Observations
The strawberry molded faster in the red container because the red wavelength will not reach the fruit. Our results show that not getting the colour wave length is better for the fruit because it molds slower.
Analysis
The red container mold was thinner and more smooth. The mold appeared slowly and little by little.
The green container mold was thicker and more fluffy. It also covered up more of the strawberry. The mold appeared really quickly and in bigger chunks.
Conclusion
Our hypothesis was wrong because the red container kept the strawberries the freshest, and the green container made the strawberry mold the quickest/the most.
Application
You should use the same colour of the fruit for the container, so that your fruits can stay fresher. This can help parents and other adults that want to keep th
Sources Of Error
There are a few things that could have impacted our experiment. Firstly If the sun was not shining on the strawberries equally then they wouldn't have the same amount of heat and heat causes mold to grow. Another source of error could be if the strawberries were not the exact same size then the amount of space that they took up in the container would be different.

Acknowledgement
There were a lot of people that helped us with our project, and they all affected on how our project worked.
These are some people that were a big helping hand. First We'd like to thank our mentor teacher Mrs.G, for sitting with us at lunch two times a week to assist us with ideas, corrections, and designs.
Next we'd like to thank, Ms.Mcneil for always being there for us when we needed to ask her a million questions.
Lastly we'd like to thank our family's and friends even if they were just supporting us.
Thank you to everyone else who was there for us.
