Problem

Many isolated regions continue to rely significantly on fossil fuels.

As climate change gets worse every day, the renewable energy revolution is picking up speed, as many people are considering wind or solar power.

The majority of popular renewable energy sources, however, have the drawback of being unstable and occasionally detrimental to the ecosystems they’re in, which makes many people believe that the investment isn't worthwhile in the long run. Additionally, many people living on islands and along the coast lack a dependable electricity source that is not susceptible to blackouts and/or lack adequate backup.

Method

I want to look into tidal stream/tidal range technology as a way to generate electricity. I will look into its pros and cons, the impact it could have on renewable energy as a whole, and compare it to other sources of renewable energy (solar, wind, etc). If possible I may build a model.
