Hypothesis
If the participants are asked how much time they think has passed while playing the game, they will overestimate or underestimate the time. This will happen because they are very focused on the game, doing missions and hard challenges that they forget about things around then like the time. Then when they will be told the actual time they were playing and be shocked.
Research
Time perception is how we personally experience or feel time passing. For example, a fun game might feel like it goes by quickly, while waiting in line might fell very slow. Many things can change how we feel time passing; How focused we are, what we are doing, or when we feel strong emotions, like excitement or fear can also change how we experience time. Even something your doing, or the environment your in, could change how time feels at the moment. When your distracted, or doing something hard, that can also affect how we perceive time.
Variables
Our independent variable is the amount of time we are doing our experiment for. We are doing about 50 minutes of gaming for our experiment. If we were to change the amount of time participants play for, it can change how long the participant perceives they were playing. By manipulating the independent variable, we can change the outcome of the experiment to get different results.
The dependent variable for this experiment is how long the player perceives they have played. The amount of time the player plays for can change how the player perceives time passing.
Procedure
1. Prepare the room/environment; keep away any clocks or windows that could show how long time is passing\, so the participant doesn't know how much time is passing. 2. Setup; Prepare the game console or device & ensure the game is ready to play. 3. Instruction; Tell the participant to play the game normally and focus on their game play. 4. Timing; Start a stopwatch/timer for exactly 50 minutes as soon as the player starts. 5. Observation; Quietly watch the participant every 10 minutes to ensure they stay focused & are not distracted. 6. Interview; At the 50 minute mark\, stop the game and ask: " How long do you think you've been playing? " 7. Record; Write down the participants estimated time\, how long they have actually been playing\, and how they react to finding out they have been playing for 50 minutes.
Observations
While the participants were playing games we observed how focused they were and which games they were playing. We checked if they were looking around a lot and checking for what time it was. Some of the participants were playing with friends and kept talking but did not loose their focus and kept talking about the game. In a few of the experiments it was a quiet room with no friends and in others it was a loud, chaotic room with friends and talking.
Analysis
We concluded that our hypothesis was correct. Participants either over estimated or underestimated the time. The focus that all participants had on the game was strong and really distracted them from the time passing.
Conclusion
After doing this project, we discovered that time perception and gaming is a really fascinating topic to learn about. We learned about how people can perceives time when they are focusing on something. When we were researching this topic, we learned many things that we didn't even know about. We are excited to show others what we learned from this topic, and we hope others will find out more things about time perception.
Application
People play video games a lot. Kids play most of all, and none are good for them or adults. Time perception and gaming shows another thing. While your focused into a video game you have been playing your forget about other things and fell like you’ve been playing really long or just for a little time.
Sources Of Error
Some of the sources of error that could be in our experiment is that participants won’t guess the exact number they think like instead of 33 which they think it is the will say 30 or 35, which is whole number bias. Also there will be 2 different games being played by participants meaning some will play one and some will play the other.

Acknowledgement
We acknowledge our classmates and siblings, as they helped us by being participants for us. They listened to us and played the games they were told to. We also acknowledge our teacher who made sure if we had any questions he would answer them. If he did not have the answers he would send us to the teacher organizing it and let us ask. Without all their help we couldn't have done this.
