What is the blood clotting cascade?   how does it work?   How is knowing the blood clot the blood clot cascade important?

Method

I watched  trusted videos. I also used Dads textbook(fundamentals of anatomy and physiology sixth edition)  as well as I looked at trusted websites. to ansewer these questions

What is the blood clotting cascade?   how does it work?   How is knowing the blood clot the blood clot cascade important?

What is the blood clotting cascade? >its the coagulation phase of hemostasis. hemostasis is the stopping of bleeding. The other parts of  hemostasis are the vascular phase, and the platelet phase. The vascular phase is when endothelins, chemicals  that  are released by damaged endothelial cells, contracts the smooth muscle cells  making the blood vessel smaller.

The platelet phase is when platelets activate, get sticky and form a plug in the damaged vessel wall

How does it work? >the process of hemostasis starts when your blood vessel gets damaged, three different phases start: vascular phase, platelet phase, and coagulation phase.

Vascular phase:

- Starts When damaged endothelial cells release endothelins

- Makes blood vessel contract

 - It Slows blood flow

- Is short and  quick

- Early response

Platelet phase:

- Starts When endothelial cells release adp

- Activating Platelets making them sticky

- They stick to damaged endothelial cells, forming a platelet plug

Coagulation phase: has three difrent path ways the extrinsic path way the intrinsic pathway and the comon path way. here they are

Extrinsic pathway:

- blood vessel gets damaged

- The damaged endothelial cells release tissue factor, clotting factor and calcium ions and they combine into factor vii tissue factor complex which activates factor x. This actovates prothrombinase. Prothrombinase slices prothrombin into thrombin and thrombin activates fibrinogen into fibrin which forms a net around  the platelet plug securing it in the hole

Intrinsic pathway: blood vessels  damaged and release  activated prostacyclin, calcium ions ,and clotting factor .Those combine into factor x activator  complex   which activates factor x. Which activates prothrombinase. Prothrombinase slices prothrombin into thrombin and thrombin activates fibrinogen into fibrin witch forms a net around  the platelet plug securing it in the hole

Common pathway: factor x. Which activates prothrombinase. Prothrombinase slices prothrombin into thrombin and thrombin activates fibrinogen into fibrin witch forms a net around  the platelet plug securing it in the hole

How is knowing the blood clot the blood clot cascade important?  It allows you to treat clotting disorders  bleeding disorders ,people with special risks, such as trauma or implants

Conclusion

I learned this because I thought it would be fun and cool. i'm really interested in anatomy and I was talking with my dad and he suggested it and i thought it sounded cool .

While I was researching the clotting casscade, I learned that there are three phases to hemostasis. They are the vascular phase, the platelet phase and the coagulation phase.  They start at the same time when the blood vessel is damaged they end at different times .First the vascular phase which quickly shrinks the size of the hole.next the platelet phase which plugs the hole and stops the bleeding. Finally  the coagulation phase takes longer but it secures the plug making the clot stable .
