Hypothesis

If we push the ball to the smoothest surface then the ball will go  more further  than in rough surfaces because the smooth surface will let the ball go easily but the rough surface will generate  fiction and make it go slow .

Research

the ques is What is the material of a ball?

Ball is made of leather rubber and synthetic.

Question ;

how does friction affect a ball

Answer ; when a ball rolls it slows down with friction . the friction force is static to friction so no work and  friction is done

Author ; rod cross

Variables

Manipulated / Dependent Variable

ONE thing that you will test/change:

We will change the surfaces

Responding / In
dependent Variable

The thing I think will change or be affected:

We will measure how far does

The ball goes

How will you measure it? :

We will measure  it with a measuring tape .

We will change the surfaces

Procedure

First we put the different surfaces on the ground .Then we place our measuring tape beside the surfaces .Now we put the ramp before one of the surface ,the one we want to use first and place the measuring tape beside the surface we are using first . Now we roll the ball from the ramp and into the surface . We measure how far did the ball go? So now we do all the other surface like that .

Observations

Analysis

Results: Analyze

In our experiment the ball had to land on the surfaces to continue… We found out that the woolen surface had the most friction and the plastic surface had the least friction. We also found out that the cloth surface had medium friction.

Conclusion

Our question was: would one ball cover the same distance if applied equal effort in different surfaces?

The answer to our question is: NO! It did not cover the same distance

Our hypothesis was correct because: we did say that the longest distance it will cover will be covered on the smoothest surface and it did.

Application

It is beneficial because if someone want the right surface like how much thin it is and how much friction it has . Also instead of a ball they  could use something else ,it does not has to  be a ball. We did  a ball because we thought it will be a interesting topic.

Sources Of Error

We were really careful .

Our results were reliable
